What to Do Before You See an Emergency Dentist Near Me
When you search for an emergency dentist near me, it means you are dealing with pain, stress, or sudden dental trauma. Before you see a doctor, there are some preventative measures you can take at home to help reduce discomfort. Such measures are not a substitute for professional care, but they can help protect your teeth until you can get proper treatment.
At-Home Steps to Reduce Pain Safely
Salt water rinse
softly rising with warm salt water can help clean the area and reduce irritation.
Cold Compress
Applying a cold compress to the outside of the face may reduce swelling and easy pain.
What Not to do
Avoid using sharp objects, applying heat, or placing medication directly on the gums, as this can cause further damage.
These steps are meant for short-term pain relief only. A dental emergency still requires professional attention.
When to Go Straight to an Emergency Dentist Scarborough
Some symptoms should never be ignored and need immediate attention. You should contact an emergency dentist in Scarborough right away if you experience:
Bleeding that does not stop
Fever, which may indicate infection
Facial swelling, especially if it spreads or causes difficulty breathing

* I also reported to the ODA. For some reason, I had to re-post this REVIEW again (was posted 2 weeks ago) because it was REMOVED AND HIDDEN for some... read more reason, when I checked this week. It was posted last week and had a reply. I went to this dentist (Dr. Baseer Mohammad) for a wisdom tooth extraction in Nov-2024. It was PRICEY but it was done. On their pamphlet for recovery, it did not say when to remove the gauze from the mouth at all, as I could not recall when the time intervals change was. I took it out after 6 hours after eating ice cream and drinking cream of broccoli soup in between those hours. While I was changing my gauze, I fainted and broke my first two teeth. I called the dentist (Dr. Baseer Mohammad) the next day, and an associate and I were waiting at the front lobby of his dental reception. I told the dental receptionist my issue and what had happened and she squeezed me in for an emergency dental. Me and my associate saw the Dr. Baseer Mohammad there and he did not acknowledge me, while I was looking at him and I could not speak properly because of my broken teeth and he just walked passed me not saying anything to me or my associate, and just walked out of dental office. I was like, what is going on, how is this man even licensed or even passed his OATH of Dentistry for patient care? This is not right. Check the cameras of that month, you will all see it, this happened around late November of 2024, and I tried to give a review before, but it did not go through for some reason. I was lucky because another SIKH named dentist was willing to help me with the emergency dental that broke my two tooths when I fainted, and I was able to fix those two teeth at that location. HOWEVER, he was trying to make it look like I did not eat, when I drank ice cream (1 ben and jerry's) and drank a cream of broccoli soup from Tim Hortons and even ate soft bread. This is not right. The whole process was expensive and their SHEET for WISDOM TOOTH EXTRACTION does not give time stamps on when to remove the gauze and how to do it either. This is NOT PROFESSIONAL AND BAD, and I BROKE TWO TEETH WHILE I WAS IN SCHOOL, AND IT WAS AN VERY EXTRA EXPENSE AT THAT. NOT GOOD. Be aware of this future people. *UPDATED: To your reply, b/c I cannot reply to your reply for some reason. He dismissed me and walked out during the emergency visit, he was not seeing no other patient. Please check your cameras. Me and my associate were staring at him, and he walked right passed us at the front desk, in FRONT OF YOUR DESK and WE CALLED IN, PRIOR. This is a clear DISMISSAL. You can check your cameras, on that specific date in Nov-2024. NO PATIENT CARE AT ALL, this shows it clearly and the cameras will as well, on that specific date. ALSO, I am NOT A DENTIST. How am I supposed to know when the interval is for changing the gauze after a WT extraction? 3hr, 6hrs, 12hrs? I am not a PROFESSIONAL DENTIST OR A MEDICAL SCIENTIST. I am not trained in that. There WAS NO TIME INTERVAL for the GAUZE retreatment on that PAPER. This is not RIGHT. And I know you guys will try to change that after this complaint too. I have already reported it to the ODA as well. NOT GOOD. Be aware of this future people.

June 22, 2025Best dentist I’ve ever been to and will be returning. I came in because I was told I had an infected tooth by a doctor and the doctor told me to... read more go to the dentist to get it extracted. I wish I remembered her name, but she was an excellent dentist and so thorough. I was really embarrassed because the doctor I had gone to about my pain acted as though I had some HORRIBLE teeth and it was the BIGGEST relief to hear the dentist that my teeth are okay. Won’t be going back to that doctor… Anyways, I had my x-rays done by the dentist, she tested every single tooth in my mouth multiple times before and after the X-ray since she couldn’t seem to find the issue through the photos. And she was honest! She said; “You have NOTHING wrong with your teeth. You do NOT need an extraction.” Right there, she had the decision to pull out whatever she wanted and claim it is infected. But she was honest, and spared the grief and shared a great disappointment about my doctor experience that brought me here which really validated my feelings and showed her care. This is where I define a professional from somebody else. At the end of the appointment, She admitted, she wasn’t sure what was going on with my teeth. But understood I was in a great amount of pain. So she gave me some antibiotics… Just in case and told me to go to a new doctor. What makes me feel good is when a professional is honest when they don’t know something. there is no shame in any profession to say “You know what, I actually don’t know.” So you learn that in the future so that you can answer that for somebody and educate them on something you didn’t know yourself because that is what a real professional does. I could tell immediately that this dentist went to an excellent school for her training just by the simple interactions we had and I hope she keeps that amount of professionalism up because it makes people feel really good. I’ll be back for sure! Thank you so much. UPDATE: The pain turned out to be an object embedded in my earlobe which was causing pain all down my right side of my body. Obviously that isn’t something they could have possibly diagnosed, but I appreciated the care from this dentistry!
